Coastal cottage ‘The Old Bank’

Location was great. Easy to access the house. No issues with booking. Host was available on the phone number provided when we called regarding the car parking query which was helpful as we had no information on it beforehand.

There was no tea, coffee in the kitchen supplies. There is a post office just across the road that sells basic groceries and it was open when we arrived so we got it from there. Also no hand wash or shower gel in the bathroom so we had to buy that too. A few cobwebs behind the spare sofa bed which we needed to use for our little one.

The village location is one of the best things, its a very pleasant locality and its handy to have shops & pubs just a few steps away. The outlook from the apartment is lovely, looking along the village street and over the garden. The hens are very entertaining but you have to tread carefully, they leave droppings outside the door! The apartment is very spacious. Parking is a bit tricky but we were lucky in always being able to find a space in the small village car park, a minute's walk from the apartment. Its also good to have the owner on hand, she was very helpful and always around.

The only unfortunate thing is that the bathroom wash basin is so small that its useless for anything apart from hand washing. So shaving, teeth cleaning etc had to be done at the kitchen sink - I took a mirror from the bedroom and propped it up behind the sink, which worked ok, but its not ideal. However its not a major drawback. Hot water supply was erratic, some days there was plenty, some days there was none.

The bed was comfortable , the cottage had everything we needed ie plenty of crockery , fridge freezer, oven/hob etc. The host was very helpful , gave us advice on places to visit in the local area, making sure we had clean bedding and towels. There was also the scones with jam and butter which was left in the fridge for when we arrived a nice touch which went down well.

The only things that that bothered us was things like losing the wi-fi signal, no bathroom cabinet to put toiletries in, there was rooms above us and at times we could hear noises which disturbed our sleep on some occasions, and the hot water which took a few minutes of running before it got hot.

Friendly and helpful owners who live next door- felt homely with ducks in the garden. Very quiet- it is on village street but set well back and high up. Village is pretty with 3 pubs offering food and 2 shops. Bed was good and firm, and for once the lighting was good, easy to read in bed. Kitchen well resourced with all the essentials.Spotlessly clean. Nice little patio to cool off in. 1 hr free parking available right outside, and a free long stay car park 5 mins away. Perfect location for Hartland Quay and coastal path.

Would have preferred the tv to be in the bedroom rather than kitchen- diner, but others may disagree.
