"Wonderful countryside stay within reach of scenic walks and where you can watch the stars at night"

We instantly felt welcome. There was a personalized message on our table, and everything is thoughtful in the house. Breakfast with eggs, sausage fresh tomatoes and bread were supplied amongst any other goodies. The table was decorated according for Easter, and the daffodils were in bloom for Daffodil Cottage. Mary was very responsive to all our query, although if I had looked around more I would have found answers to my questions are there are many guide-books from restaurants to recommendations for walks.

We had a little trouble figuring out how the heating system worked and didn’t want to disturb Mary late in the evening, but thankfully the space heaters kept us warm enough, and the beds were hugely comfortable.

"Like coming home to your Granny’s, plenty of tea, toast and love woven into every corner of this very authenticly tradi"

10.0

The little cottage is just beautiful. It has been lovingly preserved as it would have been a hundred years ago when it was still a working Dairy. The place has tradition and charm in every corner of the place. You couldn’t get a more authentically Western Irish Experience. It is set in between the hills, the landscape is amazing. The beds are very cozy

I loved everything about it, I would agree with the host about mobility. The stairs are 200 years old and a little crooked as a result - this added to the charm for me. I just had my hip replaced and managed fine though.

"We had a beautiful relaxing night away. I will definitely re book again soon in the future"

9.0

The location was lovely and quiet. We loved the old house, it felt so homely and all the lovely little treats that were left was amazing, we were so happy and really relaxed during our stay. The house had lovely little touches to it and we really enjoyed reading all the history about the property. I forgot my tooth brush and there was even a spare tooth brush there along with several other things one might forget. This was amazing value for money.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Sligo and the Daffodil Lodge was a sweet, cheerful place to lay our heads at night."

8.0

The location is brilliant. Just 25 minutes East of Sligo, with the stunning Lough Gill in between, this is definitely one of the highlights. Mary was also an extremely responsive and kind host. It is clear that she has put a lot of love into preparing for her guests.

Unfortunately, there is an error on the listing and it indicates in two different places that there is a washing machine. The absence of this critical appliance was a pretty challenging problem for our family. Luckily, the common presence of laundry vending machines in Ireland meant that it was not insurmountable, but it created stress and issues I wish we could have avoided. Though radiator heat is available, we didn’t feel comfortable running it full-time and some parts of the house were very cold. We were able to get the “solid fuel stove” to work with some effort and recommend that it be serviced to clean the chimney and that clear instructions are left for the uninitiated.

Daffodil Lodge is a lovely house, relatively close to any "must-visit" place in Sligo and Mary is the most thoughtful host that one could ask for. She provides anything that you might need: food, sanitary products, personalised information about the area and surrounding, and much more. The history of the house and the atmosphere that Mary has created made Daffodil Lodge feel like home. I would definitely go back.
