Kyoto has local government tax which is on top of the listing price. This is a first to me. The push-bikes shown in the listing is additional cost , having said that renting price is very reasonable.

The location was very handy to the Hanku railway and buses, just a 10 minute walk to the Nishiki Food Market, supermarkets very close. While the space was small, it was what we expected and we enjoyed the Japanese style of accommodation. 4 bikes (small wheels) available at very reasonable rental. Excellent maps and literature to help us find our way around Kyoto and the sights. The owners sent very good detailed information prior to our arrival which was appreciated.

The steep stairs up to the 2 bedrooms might not suit elderly guests. It was tight for storage for 4 people with bags at the bottom of the stairs (bags were not to be taken upstairs). Hot tub in the description infers a western style hot tub, however in actual fact it is a deep half bath.

Easy to heat up, could wash our clothes, great map and suggestions. Super central location. Bikes available for rent. Bathroom was good and having a bath.

Nothing- it was perfect

There are no keys, the owner tells you they code for the lock and that is it. I prefer this method much more than keys, makes the check-out easier, no need to worry about the keys while walking. Less things to carry.

There was nothing that I didnt like about my stay in this place.

Villa Chiyotsuru is a traditional house - it is a very comfortable, well-furnished place to stay. The two bedrooms (with tatami mats) are up a steep flight of stairs, need to walk through the corner of one to reach the other. The bathroom is downstairs. The manager who met us at the property took us through everything very carefully and was most helpful in suggesting things to see. The street is quiet just off a busy area with lots of restaurants and excellent transport options. We really enjoyed our stay here, after a few nights we began to feel local!
