"really nice cosy, homely, quirky cottage, within walking distance of shops pubs and attractions"

8.0

location was fabulous, a quick walk into the centre, very close to the castle ruins and all the restaurants pubs etc

the cottage could do with a deep clean and a freshen up, i live in an old building myself and appreciate that they can be dusty but it really needed a good wipe down, the first thing i noticed was that the dog bowl looked like it had the remains of pea and ham soup in it, the bed was supposed to be fixed to the wall but was no longer fixed, the bath enammel had come away leaving a sharp edge and there had been a water leak in the bathroom which had just been patched up. the majority of these things have been mentioned by other travellers and its a pity they haven't been attended to as they are the only things that let it down really, however saying that i knew about them and still booked. The hosts were really helpful and the cottage is lovely, the location is fab too. I would stay again.

"Pleasant but would have preferred it to be cleaner"

6.0

Location, fireplace

Cleanliness - the flowers in the window were mouldy, the placemats had mould on them, there was quite a lot dust/cobwebs

"Perfect dog friendly stay in Kendal."

10.0

Perfect location for exploring Kendal and the lakes. A few minutes walk into Kendal town with everything within reach. Lidl is a 4 minute walk away, there's a shop across the road and an ATM. Parking is available closeby. The cottage itself was super dog friendly with a crate and dog bowls provided, also a stair gate meaning the dogs were safe in the dining room when we had to leave them alone. The kitchen had everything we needed, we cooked in twice and ordered a takeaway another night - from the Indian right across the street (handy!) Tea, coffee, sugar was provided along with a few cooking essentials (oil, salt and pepper). The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom huge, with plenty of space to get ready, do makeup and dry washing if needed. There were emergency toiletries and towels provided and a hairdryer. Everything had been thought of. There was a fan, an airer for clothes and heating system was good and also there was a log burner which was super cosy (although we didn't use it). Would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore Kendal and the surrounding areas with their furry friends (or without). Although dog friendly, I'd like to point out it is super clean and does not smell "doggy". The garden was secure and with a lovely seating area. The cottage is secure and set back from the main road down a tiny alley. It is very quirky and we loved it.

It is a three storey cottage and as others have mentioned it is not suitable for people with mobility issues - i feel negative reviews regarding this are not warranted as those with mobility problems would do proper research into places before booking. Bedrooms are always upstairs - unless it's a bungalow, so everyone should always expect stairs. I have nothing negative to say about this place.

"Superb"

9.0

The cottage was very clean and very well equipped. It had everything you could think of with regards to essentials, including toiletries, kitchen equipment , hairdryer and portable fans. Even a washing machine, which is ideal if your planning on including walking in your trip. And all in a very convenient spot with convenience stores and eating places right on the doorstep. I would thoroughly recommend.

Just be aware that the property is situated over 3 floors. Which would cause difficulty for anyone with any physical/walking issues.

Cozy and exactly as described. Great location for discovering the Lake District.

Smoke alarm went off several times because it's not easy to ventilate the small kitchen
