"Lovely house that’s comfortable, clean and well located"

10.0

Lots of character but also comfortable. Perfect for a short stay in North Yorkshire. Pickerings a lovely town with a decent range of shops, cafes and restaurants in walking distance

On road parking but it’s the nature of where it is.

"Enjoyed our stay in Lavender Cottage on the whole and it's in a lovely area that we'll visit again"

8.0

The property was comfortable and historic with old beams and a wood burner. Treats were left for our dog with a nice personalised message which was thoughtful, along with a little welcome pack for us. The garden was fantastic with a nice covered decked area with seating and table, and fully enclosed (so our little dog was perfectly safe) - we enjoyed sitting out there in the sun. Beds were comfortable. The location of the cottage was great for walking into Pickering and the shops there.

The biggest issue was that the cottage is on a main road from Pickering through to Scarborough and Filey and it was always busy with noisy tractors, lorries and motorbikes starting around 7am. Traffic noise was a problem sleeping in the front bedroom. Parking was on the other side the road and while we always managed to get parked it was very busy and we weren't always sure we'd get a space. Would have preferred black out curtains as it was light from early. Bathroom was downstairs and the stairs were quite steep, but we guess that's due to the physical limits of an old cottage.

"Quirky and bijoux"

8.0

This little house is very nicely decorated and very clean, large warm bathroom and well equipped kitchen. Although it is on a busy main road on the edge of the town the secondary double glazing meant the traffic noise did not disturb us. Nice outdoor seating area and well kept garden. The owners have made the best of this old property. In addition there is a very good convenience store open 6.30 - 22.00 very nearby and the delightful happy little town is a very short walk.

Although the owners have done all they could to improve this old cottage it is still what it is; a small terraced house on a main road. There are low doorways and the staircase is steep and narrow, the bathroom and toilet are on the ground floor off the kitchen whilst the bedrooms are upstairs, up the steep and narrow staircase. Dogs ( and shoes ) are not allowed upstairs which would have caused distress to any one of of our dogs if we had brought them. The front door opens almost straight in to the living room which would benefit from some more comfortable seating. Having to park on the opposite side of the main road made loading and unloading a chore.
