Beautiful Grade II Listed Gatehouse in Great Location

I'm afraid things were not as we had hoped. Most importantly the heated towel rail in the bathroom has proven to be very dangerous. There is no control on the temperature and my wife severely burned herself on it last night. Secondly, the property is very damp and the smell of 'mould' was quite overpowering when we entered. Lastly, while I appreciate the effort to create something in keeping with the period I have to say the whole experience has been very uncomfortable and disappointing. The kitchen is cramped and in any really practical terms useless. Eating space is precarious and the bed and sofa are both very uncomfortable. We have been desperate to occupy ourselves outside the property as it is unpleasant to spend any length of time inside. Dangerous and uncomfortable is the only way I can sum up our stay. I sincerely hope you can address these problems because it is an interesting property in every other way.

Very quiet but central to city centre and Eccelshall road where there are cafes, restaurants, pubs, supermarkets. The Botanical gardens are just across the road with glasshouses as well as the cemetery gardens and it’s amazing history. You can walk, cycle or run from Endcliffe park just up the road to the Peak District. We were worried we would miss the TV but there is so much to do in the area you just don’t. The apartment has been beautifully furnished in the period it was built and is very cosy.

Location couldn't be better. Decor was gorgeous, house itself was architecturally fantastic. The cemetery is beautiful, and the neighbourhood has lots to offer in terms of bars and restaurants and is close to a Tesco. 20-minute walk to stunning Endcliffe Park. Felt like a true getaway. wifi very good. Would happily stay again.

10am checkout is tough, especially on a Sunday morning when nothing is open. Mattresses are old and worn and need replacing.

Such a unique property and in a great location. Easy check in. Well equipped kitchen.

Parking is a challenge - there was a space outside but it wasn't clear if this was for the property - it had double yellow lines either side but was marked out on the tarmac. Confusing and worrying that we'd get a ticket even with the parking permit. Just need a bit more clarification

Bed could have been set up as twin beds but we weren't asked early enough for this to happen- travelling with my Mom. Could be asked at outset
