Highside Farm

The room was spotless, very comfortable and a good size, character features with a touch of luxury. I went with my dog who loved hiding under the bed. Plenty of room to put his bed and bowl, and lots of tea and coffee for me. The microwave was very handy. A great location for exploring the Lakes. Each room has an allocated parking space just outside. Can't fault it, highly recommended.

The location was great and the size of the room was good.

We were moved to the level below last minute and we had disturbed sleep every night and heard everything from upstairs. Scraping chairs, coughing, clear conversations, dropping objects on floors, stomping and heavy feet. We also had come back to park in our reserved spot which the owners decided to clean their cars in.

Very nice spacious room, lovingly decorated. Generous breakfast hamper with fresh bread and pastries as well as cereals, fruit packs, jam, milk etc. Tea, coffee maker and fridge in the room. Comfy large bed. Good starting point for hikes, but also a bus stop outside the door for easy access to Keswick and other areas. Easy self-check-in.

We did not really meet our hosts, so we cannot comment on them. Slight damper to our stay: we asked for our room to be made up as a twin room, but the bed was a king with one large duvet. We slept really well anyway. On booking.com the rooms aren't described quite well, so we ended up in a basement room with a limited view. This quite disappointed us, as the reviews of the view were the reason why we booked Highside Farm. Info on how and where to park would be appreciated, as we were a bit lost when we arrived.

It is like home from home .stunning location..spacious and spotless accommodation and the owners couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone 💯 percent 👍 😀

Nothing everything was fantastic

Very nice clean large room

This was a chance serendipitous spontaneous booking. We had a lovely room with a lake view. The hosts were really friendly and the dogs that greeted us were a delight. We took a look around the pods up on the hill and would definately stay here again if we have the opportunity to come up to the Lake District again.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, we felt at ease and at home in room and in their company. They cleaned daily and give the option of new towels and full cleans every day if required - we did not see this as necessary, so just welcomed the daily cleaning service. There was a small personal fridge in the room with tea and nice coffee available (machine coffee and ground), they included fresh milk and butter in the fridge. The rooms were part of a barn structure surrounding a courtyard which made it feel very private but also meant you bumped into your neighbours in the mornings and evenings, which I found quite nice. We could also park directly outside the room. The location of the farm is excellent: It sits with a view of Bassenthwaite lake and at the start/end of the route we did up Skiddaw. It's straight off the main road so easy to access by car but there is also a bus stop outside, we did not use this, but it would be really easy for anyone on foot to get to and from other locations. There is also a lovely pub/restaurant within walking distance. We are mountain bikers and the hosts were very amenable to us having our bikes, they offered storage and I think there would be cleaning facilities. Again, we didn't need to use any of that, but the hosts were very welcoming and lovely about having bikes.

We felt the breakfast option was quite expensive for what was offered, but we did not buy into it, so it may have been worth the money? We did not stay there long enough and were back quite late every night but it may be quite nice to have an outdoor hang-out space... again, this may already exist :)
