The location , the decor and the food

The back gate connecting to the ghats was very unkept and. Bit dirty . A bit more maintenance would make this place exceptional

Très calme, jardin avec oiseaux et écureuils, magnifique terrasse avec vue fantastique sur le Gange, (si on fait abstraction de l'appel très matinal à la prière à la mosquée voisine!), emplacement très pratique, personnel aux petits soins, de très bons conseils, peut réserver pour nous bateau, tuktuk, taxi, ou massage (mention spéciale à Sparsa, situé à 13 mn à pieds en allant à Assi ghat, petit centre ayurvedique authentique comme au Kerala et aux meilleurs tarifs de la ville). Guide amateur passionnant (en anglais), demander Shivam, qui vit juste à l'entrée, et dont le père s'occupe du temple de l'hôtel. Prévenant, attentif, rassurant, j'aurais aimé le rencontrer plus tôt ! Le patio permet les discussions entre hôtes. Uniquement 5 chambres, c'est plutôt une très belle pension de famille.

Le seul bémol, c'est l'horaire du petit déjeuner (8h30-9h30). C'est trop tard. En général, vu que la lumière et la température sont top vers 6h, on va faire un tour avant de le prendre, mais si on part en visite avec un guide et un tour de bateau, on le loupe forcément. Mais le plateau de courtoisie dans la chambre est généreux.

The property is located at a very nice place from where you can see the Ganges. All ghats are at walkable distance. Hospitality was very good. Cleanliness and comfort was great. Property owner provided all support and is a very kind person. Highly recommended for family and group.

Payment mode is only cash which could be an inconvenience.

Loved the authenticity and beautiful heritage style homestay situated above Panchkote Ghat. It had a certain charm, furnished beautifully and set within a beautiful courtyard garden. A short walk across the garden to an amazing terrace…a temple one side and oh my gosh, the mighty Ganges down below. No one there but us with this incredible view, we felt peace and tranquility in the heart of Varanasi. The walk along the ghats to the heart of the city from the homestay was accessible from the property itself so location is superb. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared.. will return despite issues with paying for this stay 🙏🏼

-No facility to pay by card -The owner (lovely) wanted cash payment, I was paying for 2 rooms for 4 nights with various add-ons so this amounted to a lot of cash. Made impossible by withdrawal limits, broken and empty atms. And ultimately did not feel comfortable with this demand. - The only option left (as suggested by the owner) was to pay a man who owned a silk shop (up the road!) with my credit card. Only in India!!! He added 10% to the bill for tax!!! He would ultimately pay the homestay owner back!! I felt exceedingly uncomfortable and angry at this point. Ultimately my credit card security disallowed the transaction. My Indian friend had to pay on behalf of me. Embarrassing. -It should absolutely not be this hard and stressful for a guest to pay.

Vi har haft en rigtig god oplevelse i denne Oase midt i det hektiske Varanasi. Stedet var så roligt og hyggeligt, at vi endte med at blive 3 ekstra dage. Personalet var meget venlige og hjælpsomme og vi fik dejlig og varieret indisk og continental morgenmad. Vi nød udsigten, solopgangen og livet på Ganges fra bænken ved siden af Kalitemplet. Vi lærte utrolig meget af vores samtaler med Shivam som er tilknyttet stedet. Han er meget vidende om Indiens og hinduismens historie, traditioner i forskellige kaster og befolkningsgrupper og god til at perspektivere datiden til nutidens politiske forhold i Indien.
