800 yards to town which was very convenient

Should have been a garden room (on booking page) was a room overlooking a very busy junction, see photo of junction fine till the wagons and coaches pass by at 5am. Tea n coffee could be improved by offering decaf.

Only stair - no problem for us, nice cute room. Interesting view, clean and comfortable. Setup in the house was cosy with cute library. A little strange getting the key at 7pm. The bell to ring was in the hallway and it took a little for a person to come.

No parking on the property, we had to park on the street which was available (so that was good). This was unexpected for us.

Location

We arrived at the hotel and were checked in by the owner’s young son. He was polite and friendly, but it would have been more appropriate for an adult to handle check-in, especially when issues arose. He gave us two keys, even though we had only booked one room. When we pointed this out, he went to the back, but no owner or staff member came out to speak with us directly. Instead, a message was relayed through him asking us to contact Booking.com We contacted Booking.com, who told us they would email the hotel regarding a refund for the double booking. As it was late in the day on a weekday, we also emailed the hotel several times ourselves but received no response. I sent a message saying I just wanted a decent resolution, and would result in a low customer service as no reply. I eventually got a reply.. saying..dont threaten me with a bad review ..we contact the police. It was worded very rude and abrupt. but unfortunately due to this type of communication, will result in a low customer service score. A better response would be to say please contact booking.com again. As not our responsibilty. Or come out at the time when asked for clarity. Intead of letting your young son deal with the confusion Appalling and upsetting

On site car parking, comfortable clean room and bed. Welcoming host and friendly staff. Fantastic location and a lovely Georgian building.

Only thing we could think of was there was no light in the corner where the mirror was, so my wife had to do her make up near the window.
