HM Alma de Bayahibe - Adults Only - All Inclusive

Dining was very bland and hard to get into reservations? Massage was NOT worth $70. The windows in the room had horrible curtains so they was always so much sunlight when trying to sleep. Rooms were hot, we moved the bed in front of the air conditioning. The bars closed at 11pm at an All-Adults resort? The pools closed earlier and staff put our stuff in Lost & Found when we were swimming during daylight ? Took three days to get it back because they just kept telling us they didn’t have it without looking? Horrible experience .

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled after my experience at Alma de Bayahibe. The resort looks beautiful in photos, but unfortunately, the reality doesn’t live up to the image. Basic service was lacking — at one point, I had to ask multiple times just to get a fork. It sounds ridiculous, but it perfectly sums up the overall service: disorganized, slow, and inattentive. Staff seemed overwhelmed or indifferent, and simple requests felt like a burden. The food was mediocre at best. For a resort that presents itself as boutique and upscale, you’d expect better quality and consistency. Instead, we got limited options, poorly prepared meals, and long wait times with little explanation. While the property is visually appealing, that’s about where the positives end. There’s a huge gap between aesthetics and actual hospitality. You can’t build a great guest experience on design alone — and Alma de Bayahibe proves that. I would not return, and I wouldn’t recommend this resort unless major improvements are made to staff training, service standards, and basic guest care.

Upon arrival the room had ants all over. There was no fresh clean scent, nothing was wiped clean. We did call room service and after a tip it was cleaned well, but that should not be the case for having a clean room. Otherwise staff was okay, everyone just seemed to be in their own world and move at their own pace. You had great ocean/pool views, but you did not get that sense of Royalty. You had zero room service option, so you had to go and get all your own food/drinks. No heated pools, hot tubs, nothing. Food was okay quite repetitive and options were not a huge variety.

There’s a few things I’d like to share about this property. It’s absolutely beautiful. The food is not 5 star, but it’s delicious with many options. We never felt hungry while we were here. Pools are lovely, lots of options for seating. Many activities to participate in if you so choose. The minuses for us: Our room was an ocean view, gorgeous. However every night from 9-11 there loud music being played. Ear plugs almost do the trick but not quite. Therefore, if you go to be early ask for a room where you won’t hear much noise. One of our windows would not shut all the way and our slide doors wouldn’t lock. Thankfully we were in the 3rd floor. We love coffee! the machine in the room was terrible and we couldn’t get the buffet coffee until 730. Only sugar in the room, no milk or any type of creamer. People were very friendly even if they couldn’t speak English! We originally thought we were going to a quieter part of the island, however it was not quiet. Overall, nice stay.

A lovely, quiet resort. No bars open past 11pm! Pools are gorgeous and very clean. The staff in general are not very engaging, not UNfriendly, but not exactly friendly either. I would say the staff need more hospitality training, especially in the specialty restaurants. Would also be helpful if the staff spoke a little bit of English. Their English was even more limited than my Spanish. There is zero nightlife after 11pm. The included alcohol isn't very good. I could only drink the gin and tonic. And the top shelf booze is too expensive. We bought a bottle of good rum at the local store for way less. We didn’t have any hot water until the last day. Not a major deal but…. Would be nice lol.

There was a problem with bugs in the room. I would wake up with big welts on my arms only because the rest of me was covered with a blanket.

This resort was great. The staff was super friendly and outgoing. They did speak little English but they try to communicate. Use the translate app it was a help. The AC broke night one and the Internet broke night 2 but overall it was great.
