Sonder Market Hall

I stayed at this property during a medical flare-up (gout) and was assigned a room on the top floor—only to discover upon arrival that the elevator was out of service. I was never notified in advance, which was especially frustrating given my mobility issue. The hotel later explained that the notice went to the wrong email due to third-party booking, but no one made an effort to verify or mention the elevator issue at check-in. When I raised the concern, the team offered what seemed like a fair resolution: a refund for the remaining nights, luggage assistance, and reimbursement for a taxi to a new hotel. I appreciated that, and it seemed like the situation would be handled appropriately. Unfortunately, when we called for help with our bags—exactly as agreed—no one showed up. After waiting over 30 minutes, we had to carry everything down five flights ourselves, which defeated the whole purpose of the accommodation. The staff were polite in all communication, but the lack of follow-through on their promised support made a difficult situation worse. If you have any accessibility needs, or value reliable service during a disruption, I’d strongly recommend booking elsewhere.

Very spacious studio, well equipped and spotlessly clean, modern and new. Convenient location near L station Ashland (green or pink line).

The windows are not soundproof and we could hear the trains passing by every few minutes (until around midnight and starting again before dawn).

AC wasn't working properly mattress was worn in from use so was sloped on one side elevator was broken for a large portion of our stay

I would rate 5 stars…but there were a couple things that brought this rating to a 4 for me. 1. The loud music from the complex directly next door. There were nights where I couldn’t sleep because it was soooo loud from pool parties/events. I know that has nothing to do with Sonder, but the location isn’t the quietest. 2. My final night before checkout I was woken up in the middle of the night by false fire alarms. The first time it went off for like 5-7 minutes. Then as I’m falling back asleep it goes off again….that was annoying.

The apartment itself was great mostly...and it was very close to the train and bus lines. The bed was super comfortable with lots of pillows.

The shower floor is slippery. Easy to hear above floor stomping around. The worst was the loud club music that would go until 2 am Thursday to Sunday.
