ふる里 Mt Fuji Inn Furusato

Tsubasu and Juan are exceptionally kind. They both went above and beyond to get us all the information we needed to make our stay in Kawaguchiko the best experience. Juan kindly offered to pick us up at the station as well, really nice! Tsubasu spent some time chatting with us about the place, japanese culture, and the history of their guesthouse, it make us feel special and at a special place! The place has always been a guesthouse: It started some 40 years ago with their grandparents. Recently, they re-opened after an extended hiatus due to the pandemic and they are working hard to make the place the best it can be. Strongly recommend staying here.

It was so cold in the washrooms, not their fault at all, they can't control the weather, but as it is a traditional Japanese house, the washrooms and bathrooms are not insulated, they did have heaters so you just need to keep them on while you are around.

I had an incredible stay at this wonderful family-run hotel! From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed with warm hospitality. The family Juan, Tsubasa and their mother managing the property went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They even greeted us with a thoughtful goodie bag filled with delicious Japanese sweets, and in a truly touching gesture, they gave my daughter an envelope with a small amount of cash as part of a Japanese tradition during New Year. It was such a heartfelt moment and made our stay even more special. We were fortunate to stay during a significant moment for the hotel, as they had recently reopened after being closed for some time. Despite this, their service was flawless and deeply personal. Juan made the effort to write memos in our native language, which added such a thoughtful and special touch to our experience. It truly showed how much care and effort they put into ensuring every guest feels welcomed. Another highlight was their complimentary pick-up and drop-off service to Kawaguchiko Station. They were so accommodating that they even arranged an early drop-off before 9 am so we could catch a long-distance bus. This level of attentiveness made our travels so much easier and stress-free. The warm, personal touches, combined with the convenience and heartfelt service, made this stay truly unforgettable. I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone looking for a homely and unique experience. Thank you for making our visit so special—I can’t wait to return!

We had to book two rooms due to tourism but they accommodated us to a bigger room free of charge. When we arrived Juan picked us from the bus station and gently showed us some places on the way to the Inn. He also gave us a ride back when we left making sure we were on time. The stay was amazing, a true gem of hospitality. Whilst the Inn is a bit afar from the center (you can walk it in 15-20 min) the area is quiet and they offer bikes to move around. We really loved the stay and hope that the reopening of the familiar business is as successful as it was our stay. Thanks!!

If, like me, you’re seeking an authentic experience in a traditional Japanese house with a local family, don’t hesitate, book your stay now. Places like this are incredibly rare in Japan, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture by directly interacting with and living alongside Japanese people. I had an unforgettable and one-of-a-kind experience here. I must highlight how welcoming Tsubasa, the host, and his brother are—even going so far as to offer a pickup from the station. The house carries a touching family history and was recently renovated in October 2024, while still preserving its traditional Japanese style (including the rooms, bathrooms, and living spaces). As for comfort, the futons are firm yet very cozy, and I personally had an incredibly restful night. While the house itself is a bit cold, the rooms are well-heated, ensuring a comfortable stay. Everything was actually perfect, I already can’t wait to come back for a longer stay !
