THE POOL. we got really excited when we got to our room and we got the very end pool, it was a bit more private and less awkward to stay at. the ac was leaking on our second day but it was okay cause they fixed it right away. overall, this stay was amazing!

Our stay at Charlie’s left us with mixed emotions. The only reason for a passable score is because of the room we stayed in. We stayed in the Premium room for 3 nights and it was very spacious, comfortable and clean. The best was massive and very comfortable. The floors were mopped everyday which was fantastic! The view was also lovely, seeing over the jungle rather than other rooms. But this view is only available in the Premium room, and there are only 3 of these rooms. Bathroom was very clean and also really big! The facilities were decent. The top pool seemed to be the most clean, rather than the lower pool. There were free shuttles going to El Nido Town and Lio Beach, however these were not frequent at all. The location of the property wasn’t bad, it was close to the airport and Lio Beach. There is a little distance between the hotel and El Nido Town, grabbing a tricycle ride for 15min for around ₽300. Some of the staff were pleasant and helpful, whilst others were absolutely not.

Don’t bother offering a menu and restaurant if you aren’t serving half the options listed. We attempted ordering food and so many of our choices were rejected because they didn’t have anything that was required to make the meal. Considering how much we paid for our stay, we really expected much better than this. When staff were handing us a menu for dinner or dessert, they didn’t bother to mention that there was so much unavailable. The breakfast buffet was very poor. It was extremely sparse and you needed to ask for things to be either topped up or if they offered it at all. Considering we are on a tropical island, the fruit station was beyond disappointing. Only watermelon was being offered, and pineapple if we were lucky. Apparently the market was closed and this was the excuse for the lack of ingredients and options. However, this is a major hotel in El Nido and again considering the price, we expect so much better. This does not reflect the staff, but rather management and possibly the lack of organisation. Considering the amount of rooms and guests, there were not enough pool chairs at all. But the real problem was actually other guests just leaving their belongings on a chair and not coming back for over 45min. And they were not in the vicinity of the pool at all. They were literally gone but left their belongings to reserve a chair. We were lucky that we had chairs, but we felt really awful for other guests wanting to use the pool and not being able to get a seat due to others selfishness. Management MUST enforce a “no reserving pool chairs” rule as people are clearly incapable of thinking of others. If you aren’t actively using the pool or the pool chair, take your belongings and let others enjoy the space as well. The water pressure was really low in the bathroom, however we understand that we are staying on an island so this is also expected.
