H'mong Eco House

Great beautiful place to stay! The hosts were so sweet, made fantastic food and were very accommodating. It’s such a unique property that they built themselves! All 7 of the people in our group thought it was amazing! It was one of my friends birthday and the hosts surprised us with a cake! It’s open concept so can get a bit chilly at night but the bathroom is newly renovated and the beds have warmers. It’s located in the valley which some cars can’t access as the roads are very unpaved but some grab drivers are willing to come down, and it’s so worth it! There is a delicious and ridiculously cheap restaurant just down the road. Fantastic place to stay for the local vibe of the H’mong village.

This place is really beautiful. We only booked for 1 day but end up staying for 3 days. The location is perfect, in which you can hike by yourself or with a guide. Also the breakfast is so good.

Comfortable accommodation with wonderful welcoming hosts! Thu and Chu are really lovely people and we enjoyed learning about their life and the village of Lao Chai. The homestay was very peaceful and we loved sharing a delicious home cooked meal every night. We also did a great day trek with Thu as our guide which was spectacular and very rewarding! We highly recommend staying here - they are fabulous hosts.

What a great experience! We loved this homestay so much and we were sad to live. From breakfast in the morning, cooked fresh every day, to the family dinner in the evening, everything was just perfect.

Our stay at Mông Eco House in Tả Van was one of the most meaningful experiences of our entire trip through Vietnam. It’s not just a homestay — it’s a doorway into Hmong culture, hosted by a family that truly wants to share their way of life. The Hmong are one of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities, with their own language, clothing, traditions, and worldview. Their lives are deeply tied to the mountains, the land, and community. Spending time here gave us a rare and valuable insight into that — something that should be treated with respect and not taken for granted. Zhu and his family were warm, generous, and deeply welcoming. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable, and despite being in a remote mountain village, the level of comfort was high. They always offered us water, tea, or fruit without us having to ask. Every meal was prepared with care and full of local ingredients and more then generous amounts — and of course “happy water,” shared with a smile. They helped with everything we needed — organizing treks with local Hmong guides, arranging taxis, and making sure we felt at ease. The English they spoke made communication smooth, but it was their openness and sincerity that truly made it special. This isn’t a polished tourist attraction. It’s something more rare: a living, breathing culture, generously shared with outsiders. That’s what made it unforgettable. We arrived thinking it would just be a quiet place in the hills — and left with a new perspective. A deeper appreciation. A sense that we had glimpsed something worth preserving. It’s a bittersweet feeling — knowing how precious this is, and hoping it doesn’t get overrun. If you come, come with respect. Come to learn. Come to listen. You’ll leave changed.

The great location , the ambiance of the house and surrounding . Really felt like staying at someone’s house with the comfort of a bed and breakfast . The most lovely owners!

I had the most amazing stay with Thu and Chu and their little boy. I needed rest after Ha Giang loop and their homestay was a perfect place, quiet, clean and comfortable. I felt welcomed from the minute i arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious and clean with big bed and heated blanket in case you get cold. Shared shower but very modern and clean, all toiletries provided. I extended my stay because i loved the place so much. Theres a terrace where i spent days reading and watching birds making their nests, buffalo and other animal. I had dinner with the owners and other guests every night, delicious meal and i learned so much about H’mong culture and traditions, its invaluable. I also booked a trek with a guide who told me a lot about other minorities and the local area. It was a truly amazing and authentic experience and i will be coming back.
