New Cormorant Lake Resort & Yala Safari Place

This is a truly amazing place to stay! Everything is great. The room was even nicer than the photos. WiFi connection is solid. The room was clean and spacious, the bed was so comfortable and the dining area quiet and with great seating options. The food was also delicious! The host Gayan was so friendly and helpful. On my first night, he took me for a free tour on his scooter around the lake opposite and the sunset was sensational. There were so many birds and also water buffalo and peacocks. He also showed me where the fruit bats live and when they all come out at night it’s an incredible scene. He also spotted a barn owl and even a fish owl as we were returning back. So I was very lucky. Also, he arranged the safari tour the next day and we had a very experienced guide, saw elephants bathing and got really close to a few of them. Also a leopard was walking in front of our jeep for 3-4 minutes! Amazing. This is a really special place and you really can’t go wrong here. Thank you for everything!

Gayan was an incredible host from the moment we arrive till we left. Room was clean and comfortable, bathroom was very clean and nice. The gardens were magical, so many fruits and plants and birds and just outside the gate was the lake covered in flowers with so much wildlife. Stunning

Incredible host who took os out on a really nice evening tour! He arranged the safari for us the next day where we saw a leopard and elephant! He helped us get transportation to Mirissa as well the next day for a really good price! The view was beautiful and food was good. The location was a bit remote but really nice if you’re doing a safari. Can’t recommend enough:)

Excellent, exceptional care, near beautiful lake, where you can watch the birds, owner is very helpful, they also cook there. Short walk to town, small shop on the corner. Internet working well. They book you Safari tour so you do not have to worry about anything. Nice open space common area.

Exceptional stay! Definitely the best part is the host, who took his time to show me around. He took me to an evening tuktuk ride to see the amazing surrounding and wildlife of his area. The next he also took me and some other guests to find some animals in the wild. The place is perfectly located in front of a stunning lake, very clean, tidy and with amazing food.

Very nice host and clean. Managed to organize a safari in Yala for a reasonable price with a really good safari guide. Also, we had some small issues with our tuk tuk and he helped us fixing it. Overall we can highly recommend staying at this place.

Gem of a place. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are basic BUT comfortable and clean. For the price they are more than perfect. The setting itself was wonderful - right by the lake, surrounded by wildlife. In the evening, the host took us by tuktuk/scooter for a free tour of the lakes where we saw varans, bats, many birds including two beautiful owls !, and even a (harmless) snake. I booked my Yala safari with the host the day before and we could tell that the driver was more experienced than others. We saw all the wildlife one could see in Yala - leopards, crocodiles, varans, many birds, elephants, mongooses and even a sloth bear ! Perfect place, I'm happy I choose it.

Gayan was a fantastic host and he does so much for his guests, e.g. getting you to places close to his location and pick up again, a short evening lake tour, organize different things upon requests of guests, etc. all without additional costs. Highly recommended!

We only stayed for one night but had a wonderful stay. The owner was very friendly and offered to take us on a tour around the lakes. He has great knowledge of the wildlife, especially the birds around here. The hotel is located on a quiet road right next to the lake.

The breakfast was no the greatest we had on our trip in Sri Lanka. However, looking at the price we cannot complain.
