New Cormorant Lake Resort & Yala Safari Place

The host was lovely! He took us on a free mini safari around the lake to see crocodiles, bats and owls. So kind. The room was good size, nice bed. The food was good.

The food took awhile to come out (probably 40-50min). And no AC in the room.

The owner is a very kind and generous man. He took us on a lake tour in his tuktuk where we saw bats and barn owls. He helped us organise a safari which was excellent. Kindly gave us tea before the morning safari and a juice on arrival.

No aircon however the owner kindly sorted us an extra fan so it was not a problem

great hospitality (Gayan and Gayan's mother - you did a great job); the best breakfast we had in Sri Lanka; Gayan helped us with arranging a trip to Yala National Park; he has also taken us for a lovely evening tour to see owls; It was our wedding anniversary trip and Gayan has decorated the room perfectly – thank you!

This is the perfect spot to unwind before and after a safari adventure. The location is stunning, with the serene Debarawewa Lake right in front, offering a chance to spot plenty of water birds and even a few crocodiles from a safe distance. The resort staff was incredibly helpful - they arranged a jeep to share for the safari, making it much more affordable. The shared safari option also gave us the chance to connect with other travelers, which was a lovely bonus. The rooms were comfortable, and I loved the cozy communal area in front of them. It’s a great space to relax, exchange safari stories, and chat with fellow adventurers about travel experiences. The atmosphere here is friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. If you're planning a trip to Yala, I highly recommend this place for its comfort, location, and the overall experience it offers. I’d happily stay here again!

It might be a bit noisy early in the morning, around 4:30 AM, as safari jeeps arrive and guests enjoy their breakfast and coffee. However, that's what all the nearby hotels are made for ))

My stay in this guesthouse was an example of true and pure Sri Lankan hospitality. The owner and his family are so nice, they received me with a fresh drink and in the afternoon took a couple of us for a free tour around the lake. Also, he organized safari to Yala National Park for me at a convenient price. Honestly my experience in Tissa couldnt have been better!

It can get quite hot at night and rooms do not have AC. Location is a little bit far away from city, so no restaurants or shops nearby, i guess it's something to take in count when booking.

This is lovely guesthouse ran by Gayam and his wife. Gayam sent me a location to be picked up in his tuk tuk when I arrived which was great. As I was walking to the location he recognized me and pulled over to pick me up sooner! I had lovely welcome drink. Wifi was slow but the best wifi I've had so far in sri lanka. He also organised safari and tuktuk travelnto my next destination. He also took us on a little night time tour to look for cross and owls!

I was trying to sleep early before my safari the next day but could other guests in dining area as the rooms all surround this. I didn't have a top sheet provided for my bed, I know it is so warm that blankets not required but I like coverage while I sleep. I went to ask but I couldn't find anyone at the time. I'm sure if I had tried again at another time, they would have provided!

Incredibly nice place, very clean with nice area to sit outside. Such a friendly host who organised a great safari trip and also took us on a free evening safari to see bats, owls, and fireflies
