White Anchor, Old Town in Hastings

Good location and friendly staff. I booked the wrong dates but they was still available too accommodate me a week later.

No drinking facilities in the room I.e kettle tea and coffee

We arrived and instantly left. The location is good, but nothing else. We also met 1 member of staff briefly, possibly a cleaner who seemed nice enough but nothing

This place is nothing like the photos. I wish I had read the reviews before booking. The website describes the rooms as ‘luxury’ which is a joke. It was really filthy, had signs up everywhere forbidding drug use, as if it was some sort of crack den. The room was run down and the bed did not look clean. We decided we could not stay the night, it was too dirty and felt unsafe. Audible shouting going on in rooms walking up the stairs…

The heater is good

The bathroom is far and the toilet is very dirty very very dirty and no pressing iron

The front door situation is tricky….. bathroom is incomplete…… shower water pressure is low

Nothing at all

Absolutely horrendous. We stayed here for just 1 night. We were extremely close to calling for a lift home upon arrival. The photos on booking.com look amazing and great value for money. ITS NOT. When we arrived the pin given didn’t work on the main door. Luckily another guest was leaving and said the manager was upstairs and to find him. So we did. He then said oh no I’ve messaged it to you and so on. I check my messages and it isn’t there. He shows me on his phone the message and the time stamp was just sent. So I laughed it off and blamed my phone. When we got into our room we soon realised we had been mislead. The photos were nothing like the reality, don’t get me wrong they rooms weren’t horrendous but they were below Travelodge (which was only £40/per night) we laughed it off again and just thought well we haven’t got much choice we need to stay in Hastings for the night and we’ve already payed. Our neighbour was due for court the next morning and was very excited to tell us if that tells you much about this place. I dropped my key under the bed.. we lifted the bed up and found that it was held up by some sort of plant pot. Of course we found this funny but also felt that the poor workmanship was a great reflection of the BnB itself. My friend (6”2) had a twin room on the top floor. He has to walk around hunched over as they had literally squeezed as much room as possible from the building. As many floors as they could. The room was supposedly 2 single beds. There was 1 single bed and 1 that had been custom made to what I would call a small single bed (the size of a cot) me being only around 5”9/5”10 found myself laying in the “single” bed with my legs halfway up the wall😆 alongside all of this. The light switch for the room was outside the door. So when you come in you have to turn the light off, shut the door, stumble around in the dark to find your dwarf bed.

We refused to stay and received a refund

The door had been broken.it was filthy, smelly and cold. The owners telephone manner was unprofessional
