Outside was a disgrace, front garden not been attended to for months. It looked derelict from the outside Key was left outside for self entry, went up to room and looked in other bedroom to make sure I had the right room and found owner asleep in the nude One small towel, no plug in wash basin

Excellent location for Whitby sightseeing, next to beautiful Pannett park. Edwin, the host, was there to greet me and answer lots of questions I had about places to eat and drink. It was a very quiet room, with a comfortable bed and the bathroom just adjacent. Not fancy, but I felt at home there.

Nothing. The area is a bit confusing with regards to street names and numbers, but you enter the house through the back garden into the kitchen, he has a black gate with the number on. Once you have found it all is easy.

I'll always be happy with porridge.

the room wasn't clean it actually looked like someone slept in it jist the noght before and the bedding was the same just crinkled and rearranged. the toilet was filthy and not flushed from previous user . we paid and left. we booked different accommodation for that night

Nothing at all

The house was filthy, there was no one to greet us although the owner rang to say the key was under a pot on the table in the yard, we didn’t even go to the room we were allocated as the downstairs was awful and we couldn’t stay in a house that was not clean at all. We felt that we had been conned into thinking we were staying in a nice place, we also felt that the owner had deliberately gone out so he didn’t have to face us, we hope he didn’t do it to everyone.

I was very pleased with the room, it is what it is, a room in a house. What you see is what you get. everything worked as it should, The position is perfect for a leisurely 10min walk into the bay through the park. The Humble Pie Café is a must, Their Jam roly poly is a must. Edwin is a lovely bloke and I shall be returning to enjoy both Whitby and his company.

I didn't like some of the negative comments that made me think I may have made a mistake.

1) The room matched its description on Booking.com and the bed was comfortable. 2) The host was friendly and accommodating - we were travelling by bicycle and he allowed us to store our two bikes securely inside the house overnight. The shared bathroom was clean and we were able to access it when we needed it. 3) Location seems OK - on a small former council estate, around 0.75 mile from the harbour and the beach - it seemed quiet, except for the seagulls (which are hard to avoid in Whitby!). 4) This room was significantly cheaper than other accommodation that we could find in Whitby at the time of booking.

1) Cleanliness could have been better - the shared bathroom was satisfactory, but the carpets in the room and on the landing would have benefitted from a thorough vacuuming/cleaning. 2) There was a kettle (which didn't turn off automatically), but no tea bags/coffee sachets etc. were provided! (There was however some complementary fruit and a couple of chocolate biscuit bars left for us in the room).
