"We love the New Forest & what should have been a lovely break ended with a bad outcome"

The room was a nice size as we booked a garden room. A few of the staff were pleasant.

We had a 25 minute wait on reception on arrival. I had to get a member of staff from the restaurant to check us in. She said she would come when finishing serving but was not very happy. That made us feel unwelcome. The rail in our wardrobe was broken so nowhere to hang our clothes. My husband got the manager who found us another room. It was lucky that the hotel had spare rooms as it was bank holiday. The door to the garden didn’t lock properly but we did not want to complain or move again. We were on a bed, breakfast & evening meal tariff but nobody checked our room number when we entered the restaurant, which we found strange as other hotels do. After our meal each night we paid our drinks bill at the bar. The second night the barman called another member of staff to help him as he had problems with the till. When leaving the hotel there was nobody on reception again, as we had no outstanding charges we followed the instructions & put our keys in the box. On returning home I had an email message stating we had left without paying our drinks bill. We were so upset as this was not true, we have receipts to prove it. I rang the hotel the next day & asked to speak to the manager. The lady on the phone said it was his day off & mistakes happen but she took my number & said he would ring me the next day. Five days later after receiving no return call I rang again. I spoke to a different member of staff that said he was in a meeting & she took my number again. A week later after still no call I emailed booking.com who asked me to email all the information. I have emailed several times with the information but had no response. All we ask is that we receive an email or letter confirming that we have nothing outstanding on our bill. Due to the treatment we have had I could not recommend this hotel, as I would hate another customer to suffer the stress we have felt over this.

"Dinner and breakfast excellent but room could use some TLC"

Overall room was comfortable but the side tables could do with some paint (Only thing that let the room down) Breakfast was very nice with good quality produce.

Arrived and had to wait to be met at the desk by pressing a intercom button. On checking out had to wait again but no one arrived so went looking for someone.
