The Lodge Gatehouse at Coombe Lodge

Really well finished, felt like a home.

No coffee pods for the machine.

Good access to the main building. The track could be a little better maintained otherwise good. Nice immunities in the kitchen poster microwave oven all in good order & clean.

The big draft from the front door, And as soon as you open the door the heating system turns off, I understand that the safety feature. Also the water system only because there’s no middle for the temperature. Especially in the kitchen. It’s either hot or cold.

Stayed for a wedding at Coombe Lodge, perfect location although a little dark walking back but took a torch just in case. Lovely cottage, well equipped and perfect for what we wanted. Little touches like tea, coffee and milk were appreciated.

The location was very nice.

There’s to much to list. No heating, dirty, water on the kitchen floor from the fridge. We had to clean and defrost the fridge, wash the floor. Clean up live insects on the floor, block holes in the wall, keep turning on radiators, clean cobwebs everywhere, a big gap under the front door, the sitting room was unusable due to it being so cold, the wrong key code was given to the key box, so we were outside in minus temperatures ringing a number nobody was answering, then they didn’t have the right key code, so we got colds from the time being outside trying to get in. Only to be created by a dirty freezing cold house with the heating off! It took more than 24hrs before the place started to warm up due to the thick walls.

Great location, cute house. I’d recommend this place to sat and I’ll be back.

The actual property.

It was freezing when we arrived. No heating had been put on. We had to spend the evening in the lounge wrapped in the duvet. The lodge didn’t warm up until the next afternoon. There were no additional blankets so it was a very disappointing stay being so cold. Additionally there wasn’t enough hot water for 2 showers on the first morning. We called the agent who whilst polite and tried to sort it out via the property management they were unable to come out until the next day. We had to boil the kettle to wash up to ensure we had enough hot water the following day. I reported this to the agent who made a note of the feedback so hopefully future guests will have a more comfortable stay. I sent a message with all this detail to the agents but they haven’t had the courtesy to reply.

The Location is perfect for those attending a wedding at coombe lodge, with a drive way leading right up to the entrance. I find that many self catering establishments don't offer tea, coffee and milk but the gate house had that and a coffee machine with pods!!!!!

You are a little out from the village, and walking to the village isn't advisable, this is not down to the property and did not hinder our experience. Taxi are just not available either.
