The Lodge Gatehouse at Coombe Lodge

Spacious and comfortable

Myself & My husband recently booked to stay at Coombe Lodge in Sept 23 for a wedding we were attending at a venue nearby.

 Arriving mid-afternoon, we started to get ready for the evening. Whilst the facilities at the lodge are fine, we found that there wasn’t enough hot water to shower! (I managed a quick 5-minutes, leaving my husband with an ice-cold shower following that).

 Whilst this was an annoyance, we accepted it might have been a ‘one-off’ of some sort. 

Next morning I showered again, however not turning off the shower after this time, allowing my husband to head straight in. However this time I only managed 2 minutes myself in the shower before it switched to ice-cold once again!

 We were rightfully very disappointed so contacted customer service. We were told that someone would head out later that day and we would hear back about the situation. 

We didn’t receive a call back. 

We called once again, being told that the issue would be logged and a someone would be sent out and we would hear the results during a call back.

 Again, no call back. 

So we called a THIRD TIME, which resulted in possibly the most unhelpful conversation of all. 

“The owner turned the shower on for 30 seconds and found no issue so if you don’t believe us then that’s fine”

. I mean, that sentence alone shows the inept customer service training that Hopewell has for its staff. Along with it not actually what we reported (Shower goes cold after 2 minutes)

. We asked to speak to the owner ourselves and our details to be passed on - As obviously we can’t trust the customer service staff to communicate efficiently.

 We have also sent an email to no reply - So hopefully Hopewell you’ll see/answer this review?

 To be honest, it’s more the customer service which has been an issue now over the original problem at this point, 

it’s plain disrespectful. Disregarded as a customer. Awful communication.

Great proximity to Coombe lodge if attending a wedding.

As others have mentioned, the hot water does run out relatively quickly. Fine for me as I was solo, but couples may need to space out showers!

Loved that it was close to Coombe lodge for my wedding day. Loved the space in the apartment. Very easy check in process with key box.

Very expensive for one night.

Directions need to be clearer, the communication made us feel that we needed to turn onto Coombe Lodge and it was on the estate when in fact you need to drive past the entrance by some 20 yards to find the property, a simple wooden sign at the entrance of coombe lodge to say that the gatehouse is the next turning would be sufficient, took over half an hour to find the property as nobody on the estate itself could direct us.

Absolute sod to drive in and out, poor visibility of traffic on the road, blind
