The Rose and Thistle Alwinton

What an absolute gem of a find! We booked late for one over night stay in the B&B and were not disappointed. Immaculately clean, stylishly finished and communal area downstairs is thoughtfully curated - hot drinks (of great quality) an honesty bar, cosy sofas and board games and books. Rooms thoughtfully named with nods to the area - was a sweet touch that linked to decor too. Bed was comfy, shower was powerful and towels were fluffy. Attention to detail was top notch! Breakfast was one of the nicest B&B breakfast I’ve had - tasty, fresh, lots of healthy options and in a lovely room. We booked with our little doggo, who was very well accommodated and even offered a sausage for his breakfast! The staff are warm, friendly and accommodating and have clearly poured a lot of soul and energy into creating a high quality B&B experience in a beautiful setting. We arrived too late for food in the pub sadly but hope to return to sty again and try it out - along with some exploring of the many well maintained walk ways in the area. Can’t recommend this place enough.

I took my mother-in-law away for a stay in the countryside. Fantastic location and hosts, Thank you so much. The only negative was no kettle and tea/coffee in your room. Great facilities downstairs for all guests to help themselves but ment getting dressed to come down stairs to make a morning cuppa before breakfast. Then, having to carry the hot drinks upstairs, through a fire door! Not ideal for anyone with any form of mobility issues! But must stress we had a fantastic stay.

Spotlessly clean and very helpful hosts in the B&B. Excellent landlord, food and beer in the pub and a superb location in the Northumberland National Park :-)
