Writers View, Royal Mile Apartment Edinburgh

The location was excellent - right in the middle of all of the activity in Edinburgh. The apartment looks right over a courtyard that honors authors from Scotland and is very interesting and attractive. Once you leave the courtyard you are right on the busy "Royal Mile" and have easy access to all sights, shops and restaurants. It is only a short walk to the castle. The apartment is attractive and really comfortable - provides respite from the busy city. It had everything that was needed for our stay.

We were not aware that we would be on the 4th floor with only steps to climb ( no lift) and we are seniors so this would have been difficult with our suitcases were it not for super helpful tenants who carried them up for us! We would have packed differently had we known.

Location was perfect

It could have been cleaner, dust… windows and bedding needs attention. My duvet smelt of feet, even with te fresh linen on. Pigeon waste on all the windowsills when you opened any of the Windows .the general entrance way was littered with rubbish and seemed to be a dumping ground for old furniture,appliances etc . Clearly a private residential area also the smell of drugs was overwhelming in the outside hallway ,we did not feel safe.

Central place, short walks to everything. Comfortable apartment with a beautiful view.

The apartment is located at the top of the building without an elevator. There are many many stairs, so we recommend travel lightweighted. The stairway is quite smelly because of the other residents. Not the landlord's fault though.

Situation with keys

Location was good. Host was easy to get hold of though issues weren’t solved.

Too many stairs. Uncomfortable beds. Noisey. Heating not working well so was cold. No plug for the bath and shower not great.

It was in a great location, surprised how big it was, easy to find, had everything in we needed the host was really great with a few requests quick to respond and helpful. Ideal for couple or a family as long as you can climb a few flights of stairs Took us minutes to walk to the castle and 7 mins from the train station and could cut straight across the road to the gallery and princess street within minutes Was lovely to sit and watch people out of the window into the writers square and watch the world go by

Not a criticism, but be prepared for stairs. Our little girl 6 managed them with ease

Very well located & cosy. Had everything we needed. Well equipped kitchen.

Boiler was quite noisy & broken toilet seat.
