Luxurious newly built cottage in central Wivenhoe

The cottage was beautifully equipped and extremely clean and comfortable. Also the location was perfect for our purposes.

The cottage was very nice but there were one or two things that did not make it exceptional for our needs. The bed was too soft for me as I have a back problem. I had to sleep on the sofa which was not a great experience and so we did not stay for our second night. The house was far too hot for us on arrival. It took hours to cool it down and the airing cupboard with the boiler beside the bedroom meant the upstairs stayed very warm despite all the windows being open. This might be a bonus in the winter but it was overwhelming on a hot day. The courtyard garden was not a particularly welcoming place to sit. Its a shame there were not more containers with plants or better seating. We wanted to be outside to cool down when we arrived after a long drive. However as a dog owner the fact it was safely enclosed and easy to clean was a big bonus. There was a nice park a very short distance away for the dogs. The stairs were also very steep which were a bit of a problem for my 6'2" husband with size 13 feet. He had to be very careful. A child gate would also have been helpful as we did not want our dogs getting upstairs. We had to make a barricade from our belongings. Another plus was that the host was easy to get hold of and was helpful.

Very clean, modern inside and very well equipped. Comfortable sofa and bed, well equipped kitchen, great bathroom upstairs and extra downstairs toilet. Nice little courtyard garden with seats and barbecue. Parking is on-street, you will need a visitors parking permit which can be arranged when you are booking.

The ceiling light in the living room could be higher, just a few links need taking out of the chain.

Very well appointed kitchen and pleasant décor throughout.

Bed too small for two adults; needed chair or chairs/stool in bedroom and a suitcase bench would have been useful.

A really nice, clean cottage with everything we needed, within walking distance of the river. The town is pretty, there are some nice shops and pubs.

The blinds in the bedroom let some light through so we were woken up earlier than we'd have liked each morning.

Lovely comfortable flat with lots of amenities. Perfect location

Only downside is the light in the living room being too low - we both kept hitting our heads!
