Stylish Retreat Inside City Walls

Vey clean and comfortable, good value.

A good central location with nearby bakeries and local Sainsbury, yet on a quiet, residential street. The spacious, 3 bedroom apartment is a 2 story and the steps to the upper bedrooms are somewhat steep so would not recommend for those with any mobility issues. A very comfortable fit for 5 adults with separate living room and dining room. The downstairs bedroom has a full size bed and is great for 1 person but can sleep 2 (tight fit). There 2 bathrooms , one with bathtub and the other with shower. We arrived to a very clean apartment. There were no odors or dust. The thermostat is easy to adjust (turn dial to desired temperature). There are adjacent neighbors which we never saw nor heard. No top unit. The residential street parking with permit is great if traveling with a car.

This is a very quirky, homely property. The house is located within the city walls so you can walk into the centre in a few minutes. Parking is available on the roadside for the duration of your stay(£10), which is excellent. Great little touches in the property, such as coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper cleaning products, hand wash, bath and shower gel and a lindt chocolate bar and prossecco (didnt see the chocolate for long, as our son claimed it and ate it). Hairdryers in every bedroom, along with cooling fans, which were appreciated as this is not a cold property. Iron and ironing board. Loved the sash windows and original fireplaces and wooden floors. The floors squeeked when you walked on them but that is the charm of keeping original features in an old property. Loved it. Great facilities such as a fully fitted and well appointed kitchen with a comprehensive amount of crockery, cutlery, cookware and glassware including cooking facilities, coffee machine etc and washing machine in the downstairs bathroom. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms were excellent for our family. Nice little courtyard to the back, which is glorious if the sun is out, with a nice little table and chairs set. All bedrooms apart from downstairs bedroom were a good size. Bedding was good quality and beds comfy. Our eldest son stated the downstairs bed wasn't comfy but he did spend a long time in it!! Good welcome pack, with lots of useful information. All in all the best property we have rented in York, and would definitely return.

There were a couple of areas which could benefit from attention such as some cleaning. Cobwebs and dust down the side of the downstairs bedroom drawer unit. White powder in Master bedroom drawer, which I hope was talc. Cobwebs in bathroom and build up of grime on the outside of the shower panel. Shower head was discoloured and had limescale deposits. Rear yard area, windows, and windowsills would benefit from a clean and the yard brushing. Reed diffusers in the property were allergy inducing and had to be moved to prevent reactions as one day of our stay was ruined for our son due to his reaction to them. We appreciate most are in favour of the diffusers, but not 4 in such a small property. One of the cushions in the lounge was split and could do with replacement. Not a fan of woodchip wallpaper, but understand why it is used in a rental property. There are obvious cracks in the ceiling of the master bedroom, which would benefit from some attention. The recycling information was confusing, as it was not clear which receptacle was for which item.

Location great. Property has been designed & decorated thoughtfully, well appointed & high standard of finish. Will definitely visit again. Parking set up great & value for money.

It was a very comfortable and well appointed house. The owner had gone to a lot of trouble to make our stay as good as possible with little extras and a lovely welcome pack of prosecco and chocolate.

The radiator in the downstairs bedroom wasn't working and the window couldn't open so it was very cold and that meant condensation. I'm sure that can be easily fixed. Otherwise the house was perfect.

A well appointed house with everything our group of 5 adults needed. Exceptionally clean, tastefully decorated with everything thought of, creating a homely feel. We were able to utilise all the different spaces in the house during our stay, making our trip all the more enjoyable and relaxed.
