Mountain View Lodge

Have stayed many times before. Great location. Close to shops & town centre. The communal area is kept clean & tidy. Well equipped kitchen. It was a good sized room. Bedding clean. Towels clean. Great sized shower room & really good shower with plenty of hot water. Good parking area.

On this occasion we stayed in room 1. Upon entering the room we could smell a strange smell, what could only be described as musty & dusty. Upon further inspection we found the carpet was extremely dusty & the edges were thick with dust. It was the kind of smell you would expect from an old building having been closed up for a while. We wore our socks the whole time as we didn’t want our bare feet touching carpet. The surfaces of table & bedside tables were grubby/greasy. The walls have hand prints & dirty marks all over the room & it could be doing with a good scrub. We have stayed in other rooms with no issues but we didn’t look as carefully simply because the other rooms have smelled fresh. Granted we haven’t stayed here in about a year but I feel this room needs updating & given a thorough deep clean. Any time we have stayed we have been aware of cleaners in the building but we have never heard a hoover even though all the bedrooms have carpet. Bed too soft & bouncy. Not enough pillows. One soft pillow each isn’t enough & luckily we had brought our own from home. Loud music from people who live in the below the b&b. No outside area to sit. B&B in such a beautiful location & it would be nice to sit in a sheltered area with perhaps a BBQ area.

The facilities were very good and the communal setting was excellent.

Well the snoring coming from underneath the room that we were in was very very loud and woke both me and my partner in early hours of both mornings..

The bathroom was very nice and cleaned daily.

The walk to the center of town is a little far and next to a busy road

The shower was cold for two days 🚿😢

The staff were intoxicated and we could not use the facilities. Booking.com were no help whatsoever

Booking.com assistance was none existent. After not having a place to stay we had no assistance from anyone

Kitchen was great bathroom was good

Just needs some maintenance carpets need replacing

Good facilities for our food. Tea coffee provided

Door Number on key box nt provided. All else good

Located well to city centre. Very clean, clear communication of instructions.
